I love Cheers, but I had totally forgotten about this scene. Btw., since the concept of "predictive programming" is usually connected with scenes like this, what if they just wanted to warn their viewers? Cheers and Frasier are full with commentary on society, government, corporations, people in general, and as far as I can tell as a foreigner outside the US, those commentaries are mostly clever and rather subtle.
