Pontins BANNED customers with 40 common Irish surnames including Boyle, Doherty and Gallagher using a secret blacklist titled 'undesirable guests' in bid to stop Traveller families booking holidays at its parks Pontins used a secret blacklist titled 'undesirable guests' to ban customers with 40 common Irish surnames in a bid to stop Traveller families booking holidays at its resorts. Families with surnames including Boyle, Doherty and Gallagher were all barred by the company, with staff told 'we do not want these guests on our parks'. Employees also monitored calls and refused customers with Irish accents. A whistle-blower reported the firm to the Equalities and Human Rights Commission, which found Pontins was guilty of 'unlawful' discrimination. Downing Street led the condemnation today, describing the leisure firm's policy as 'completely unacceptable'. An unnamed Pontins employee blew the whistle last February, prompting an EHRC investigation. A message printed alongside the blacklist, first revealed by i News, told staff: 'Please be aware that several guests are unwelcome at Pontins, however some of these will still try and book - especially during school holidays. 'We have been informed by our Operations Director that we do not want these guests on our parks.' dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9316507/Pontins-banned-customers-using-secret-blacklist-titled-undesirable-guests.html
