Models appear to have displaced useful analysis of complex systems,to the extent that identifying the cause/effect relationships (i.e. actually gaining understanding) amongst the mass of extraneous data is all but impossible. Here is a simple example of the type of analysis which is required before considering an expensive complex, and probably quite useless, model. Sorry about the sound quality.
