When you were talking about the woman and the bowling alley, I thought of this woman. I do know of an elderly woman that got kicked out of a store for not wearing mask She sure was angry about it. They too wanted a doctors note too. She would have to get an appointment, which could take weeks to get an appointment, with all the back log, and go about 40 miles to get it, then have to pay for it as well. She has to live on like about $755 a month right now. She cannot get her supplement for her OAS, as she could not get her income tax done, because everything was locked down. She did call Revenue Canada using the number that was in the phone book to get an income tax form. Press 1 press 2 .Well after about 15 minutes and not finding a real human, she gave up on that one. She called the number for the OAS supplement place and explained to them what happened. They said they would send out a form for her to fill in. Well that was days ago. They did give her another number for Revenue Canada and she found a line after the press 1 press 2 again. She was on hold for a bit over 3/4 of an hour. Then their system hung up on her. Well that made her really upset. She had gone to the post office, to see if they had any forms left. They don't give them out any more, nor does the federal office there either. I have to wonder how many other old people, have the same problem? The place she gets her taxes done, is not doing anything until March 2021. She is living on a shoe string. What really infuriates her, is she knows the whole covid thing is fake. Now she has to dig into her savings to survive. She doesn't have much of that either. She almost had enough to buy a new appliance, she needs. Now that is out the window too. When this is all done they had better give her back pay. She had no idea that her OAS supplement was connected to income tax. I didn't know that one either. Adding to that the government sent out money to her for the GST and the Trillium money. They should not have done that, since her income tax had not been filed. So they were so bloody nice they sent her out two letters, saying they wanted that money back. She said they can shove the letters up their behinds, they own her, not the other way around. One thing leads to another. She has one thing that is good, her landlord, will not kick her out, if she can't pay the rent for a few months. He is understanding about what happened to her as well. He gave her some extra money for a Christmas present. Well that cheered her up. It is a good thing, he can afford to let her stay there without paying rent or she could end up homeless too. Some landlords just don't really care. Bless his heart. No excuses for stuff like that happening to people. I am sure there other stories like that out there. Be sure to check in your seniors. She just turned 65 so that may or may not apply to all seniors. She certainly is not the only one that tuned 65 this year.
