A lone person on the street with a sign saying "the world is coming to an end soon" would be considered zany, but, if you dressed them up and put them in the UN or a University then it is considered a valid warning without question. Over the many years the world has learned to trust these, so called, authorities who now exploit that blind faith. It is hard for the average person to believe the Government, Scientists, Academia and 90% of the media would dare tell a lie of such large scale which is why they get away with doing it.
